Class Descriptions
We offer a wide selection of classes to suit all ages and abilities.
Active Lifestyles (50+)
A club within a club, this is a social experience which includes various activities for our more senior customers.
Aerbobics
A high intensity group based class designed to get your heart pumping and your feet moving. Uses high, moderate and low impact moves designed to burn calories and improve aerobic fitness. A muscular conditioning segment complements the class to tone muscles.
Step/Stomp FX
This is a class where the moves are easy but the workout is tough! Learn the basic step and linking moves and work up a sweat whilst having fun! This class will keep your mind focussed but will not involve challenging choreography so that you can concentrate on toning your lower body and burning fat!
Body Balance
A mind and body training class combining the best principles of Eastern disciplines like Yoga and Tai-Chi with popular new methods such as Pilates and Feldenkrais. Controlled breathing and focussed concentration will be needed as you are lead through a series of stretches, moves and poses to create a holistic workout that brings the body and mind into a state of harmony and balance.
Body Combat
A combination of moves and stances from a range of self-defence disciplines such as karate, boxing and Tae Kwon Do. Upbeat music and choreographed moves make this an hour long energetic routine raising fitness levels throughout the whole body, whilst reducing fat and cholesterol.
Studio Strength
A fantastic class using barbells and weights to tone and condition muscles whilst raising metabolic rate for rapid fat burning. After an initial warm-up, all the major muscle groups are worked via a series of weight-bearing exercises including squats, presses and lifts; all set to dynamic and motivational music tracks. The class finishes with a cool-down and stretch.
Body Conditioning
This class begins with a warm-up to raise the heart rate followed by a class which will focus on body sculpting and conditioning exercises for the upper and lower body. Step benches, hand weights and bands may all be used during the class.
Boxercise
This class involves circuit training mixed together with boxing moves and techniques. It’s a great workout for both lads and lasses as we can promise a full body workout, but you are able to work at your own level.
Circuit / 50+ Circuits
Challenge yourself with this action packed strength and cardio workout. You will perform a series of exercises using machines, free weights, skipping ropes, body weight, resistance bands and stability balls to improve both lower and upper body strength, cardiovascular fitness, agility and flexibility. If you like working at your own level then this is the class for you.
Freestyle Aqua Aerobics
A refreshing alternative to traditional workout classes providing minimal impact on the joints. This class offers both cardiovascular and muscular gains by using the natural resistance of water.
Indoor Cycling / Bike & Belly
Lead by a trained instructor, indoor cycling classes combine a foundation of basic cycling movements with motivational coaching. Inspirational music and fun, motivating environment ensures an enjoyable safe and effective journey for all participants. In the Bike & Belly class – you guessed it – we finish the class with some exercises for your abs.
Junior Gym
These are gym / studio based sessions specifically for our younger customers, from the age of 11 – 15 years, to use the gym.
Legs, Bums & Tums
Warm-up and then tone, tone and tone some more! This class is all about specific exercises concentrated on those problem areas, which will help you lose inches.
Line Dancing
Exercise your body and mind by dancing in line to lively, upbeat music. Line Dancing is a fun way to dance socially without a dance partner and experience the Country & Western dance culture.
Fitness Pilates
Experience the principles of Joseph Pilates and his influences on dynamic movements. Non-stop flowing moves challenge your dynamic strength, flexibility and balance. This class increases your core temperature and heart rate whilst improving core stability.
Yoga
A true mind, body and spirit class, which concentrates on posture and body alignment. Encouraging improved flexibility whilst covering different aspects of yoga; warm up, asanas, pranayama and relaxation.
Tai Chi
Slow, gentle movements and exercises to condition and tone your body, it’s deliciously calming and helps to eliminate stress, great for general well being.
